How Our 3-Phase Breathwork System Prepares You for Altitude

Experience our proven, science-backed 3-phase breathwork training that takes you from baseline assessment to real-world altitude readiness. Designed for mountaineers and ultra-athletes, this targeted program deepens CO₂ tolerance, strengthens respiratory muscles, and simulates thin-air conditions—so you climb higher and perform stronger.

Step 1: Take Your Breath Assessments

Measure your CO₂ tolerance, blood-oxygen baseline, maximum breath-hold, and other assessments to pinpoint your starting point for high-altitude breathwork training.

Step 2: Begin Your Training

Follow our week-by-week regimen of respiratory muscle training and altitude adaptation exercises—designed to boost your oxygen efficiency before you hit the mountain.

Step 3: Track Progress, Perform Better

Train BEFORE you hit the mountain.

Breathe differently on it. The progress you make in training will enable your lungs, body, and mindset to perform at your very best on the mountain.

What Happens to Your Body at High Altitude?

As you climb above sea level, the partial pressure of oxygen falls, triggering key physiological adaptations. Your breathing rate (respiratory rate) increases to draw in more air, your heart rate rises to circulate oxygen faster, and your maximal oxygen uptake (VO₂ max) drops as less oxygen reaches working muscles (decrease in both SpO₂ and SmO₂ ).

Key High-Altitude Challenges

  • Hypoxia: Lower blood-oxygen saturation impairs performance and endurance.

  • Respiratory Muscle Fatigue: Thin air forces your diaphragm and intercostals to work harder.

  • Cognitive Fog: Reduced oxygen delivery can hinder focus, memory, and mental clarity.

  • Irritated Airways: Dry, cold air may irritate airways — especially if you do not use your nose to inhale.

Hear From Our Past Clients

"Thank you so much to Recal for the fantastic training. It has not only improved my adaptation to high altitudes but also made me aware and conscious of the importance of breathwork in my health. Your studies-based High Altitude Breathwork Training helped me prepare for the thin air of high altitudes while living and training in a concrete jungle - 200m above Sea Level. My eventual journey from 2300m to 6050m in just 4 days was as exciting as it was exhausting. I wouldn't recommend doing it this fast, but thanks to your training, I'm thrilled to have made it to the summit."

Umer L.
Lahore, Pakistan → From 2,300 to 6,050 meters in 4 days, August 2024.

"I chose to participate in this training because I'm an endurance trail runner living at sea level, well versed in variable terrain and elevation gain, but unfamiliar with running at altitude. Since the training, I've seen improvements in my hill climb times and the ability to catch my breath after a steep, fast climb. While training, the biggest thing I gained is the ability to increase my pace while keeping my heart rate in my Zone 2. At Leadville 100, I felt great and performed very well. I believe there's much to gain from this training, whether as a climber, runner or biker."

“You can feel the difference – I did, emphatically. The course taught me to push through what I previously believed to be my breaking point, and on my first long trek through the high alpine, I noticed a significant improvement in my performance.”
